Eating Disorders Treatment & Counselling
Including anorexia, bulimia, compulsive & binge eating
Eating Disorders are psychological illnesses which affect people’s sense of their body image. If you are suffering from eating disorder, you may have a distorted sense of your body weight and shape, and you may react to this distressing view of your body with extreme forms of eating behaviour.
The most common forms of Eating Disorder are Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder and Compulsive Overeating. People with eating disorders may lack confidence and may often have an extremely low sense of self – indeed the bodily effects of the disorder are often a symptom of deeper underlying issues although this is not always the case.
Eating Disorders can be seriously damaging and even life-threatening and should be taken seriously. If you think that you or someone you know might be suffering from an eating disorder, please read these information pages and feel free to contact Associated Counsellors & Psychologists Sydney to make an appointment with a counsellor or psychologist specialising in eating disorders.
