Maya – Registered Psychologist
Maya is a Registered Psychologist with almost 15 years of experience providing therapy and counselling to individuals of all ages from adolescence through to older adulthood. Having worked in private practice, as well as in non-government organisations as a Family Counsellor and Case Worker, Maya has worked extensively with clients experiencing anxiety, trauma, parenting concerns, relationship or intimacy issues, depression, addiction, and grief, among other concerns.
Maya works exclusively with individuals, providing a safe and supportive therapeutic environment in which her clients feel comfortable to explore all aspects of their world including their past, present, and goals for the future. Maya works predominantly from an Existential Psychology perspective, meaning she takes a holistic approach, acknowledging the complexity and layers of each person, as well as their potential for change.
Maya holds a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), a Postgraduate Diploma of Psychology, and a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy, giving her a broad range of methodologies to draw from. These include attachment and trauma frameworks, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Gestalt Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Through the process of therapy, Maya She aims to help her clients better understand their values and establish strategies to align their behaviour with their personal values.
